If you or someone you know is getting married this summer – here is an opportunity that you don’t want to miss!

—- FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ——–

This wedding season, in celebration of love, one couple will be randomly chosen to receive a Lightfoot Arts  portrait and have their story told.

Canadian artist Shannon Lightfoot is a profound visual story teller and his entirely unique technique is the culmination of 12 years of development. A scroll saw is used to first cut the images into the board. Then, upon paint application, Shannon is able to choose the elements of the story that he wishes to become the primary and secondary focus of the viewer. From afar his portraits appear to be two dimensional; however, as the viewer soon discovers, a whole story unfolds before the eye as the cutlines reveal images and words hidden at a distance. It is this unique quality that lends such power to a Lightfoot piece.  A portrait is never simply a portrait and a landscape is much more than a view, these images grow to become the transcription of a story.

Commissioned work includes wedding portraits, beloved pets, famous athletes, musicians, artists, landscapes and businesses.

To enter, submit your complete contact details by email to info@lightfootarts.com. Include: couple’s full names, your name (if you are submitting on behalf of someone), email, telephone, location and ceremony date. The draw will take place in October 2010. Lightfoot Arts Inc. will contact the couple directly. All contact details shall be held in strict confidence and shall only be used by Lightfoot Arts Inc.

BASEBALL MEETS LIGHTFOOT ARTS AND HITS A HOME RUN

—–FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE——

Film writer/producer  Fracaswell Hyman commissions a Lightfoot original for long-time partner and Baseball Hall of Famer Ricaldo Rhoden (Rickey Henderson).

Vancouver, BC

“To date, this portrait is one of the most difficult pieces I have ever put together!” exclaimed Shannon Lightfoot upon completion. The final stage of any commission is always the job of putting all the pieces back into place. It took the artist and four others over 3 days to accomplish that task. When asked what made this portrait so difficult Shannon replied that “the cut lines of the crowd in the background were impossible to differentiate from each other thus when the time came to reassemble the work I could only do so by trial and error.” Was it a terrible experience? “Not at all!” He claimed. “I still laugh about it. This portrait was an adventure made worthwhile by the content. I felt fortunate to be able to create a piece for a truly fantastic client.
